The Conference Site
The conference will be held in the Institute building "Freihaus" of the Technische Universität Wien using the lecture rooms V and VI. The poster session will also be held in the "Freihaus", Wiedner Hauptstrasse 8-10, 1040 Wien (see the campus map). The Technische Universität Wien is located in the city center of Vienna, thus conveniently accessible by the Vienna public transport system. The nearest station to the conference site is "Karlsplatz", to where the underground-lines U1, U2 and U4 are bound. Additionally, the tramway lines 62, 65 as well as 1, 2, D, J, Bus 4 and "Badner Bahn" are nearby. Parking slots for private cars are available in a public park house within the conference building (about Euro 90.-/week and Euro 3.2/hour).
How to reach the conference site
From the Airport Vienna: The City of Vienna is served from the Airport Vienna by several major public services:
- The regional train "S7" runs from the airport to many local stations in Vienna. Please leave at "Landstrasse" (Wien-Mitte); there you have connections to the underground lines U3 and U4. This train takes about 20 min and leaves the Airport always 18 and 48 min after the hour. The costs are about Euro 3.90 (one way). Regular trains ("Railjet") bound to the Vienna Central Railway Station leaving 3 and 33 min after the hour. More frequent services are scheduled during the morning and the evening rush hours (for more information see the homepage of the Austrian Federal Railway, OeBB)
- A special train called "CAT"; runs from the Airport also to "Landstrasse" (Wien-Mitte) in about 17 min. This train leaves the Aiport always 9 and 39 min past the hour. The price is 12 Euro (single) and 21 Euro (roundtrip). Reduced fares are availble by booking tickets online.
- A bus service from the Airport to "Wien Morzinplatz / Schwedenplatz". There are connections to underground lines U1 and U4. The price is Euro 8 (single) and Euro 13 (return); buses leave the Airport 20 and 50 min past the hour. Travel time is about 20 min.
From the Vienna Central Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof Wien): All trains from all directions arrive at the Central Railway Station Vienna, located in the 4th district. Convenient public transport to the conference site of the SCTE'2018 is provided by
- Underground line U1 (red line) from the station "Hauptbahnhof" to the station "Karlsplatz" (2 stopps).
The official conference language is English. The language of Austria is German.
The offcial currency in Austria is the EURO. Foreign currencies can be exchanged in Euro in all banks. The airport and most railway stations have exchange desks and money is available in numerous cash dispensers, prepared for major international cards. Hotels, restaurants, and many shops and travel agencies accept credit cards.

The Technische Universität Wien has concluded co-operations with hotels near the Technische Universität Wien. Conference participants can thereby take up reduced room prices for the duration of the conference. A list of these hotels with contact information and prices can be downloaded here.
It might be a good idea to check, in addition, hotel accomodation by booking systems (e.g., hotel.de, booking.com or others).
The conference week is the week before Easter. This might attract many international visitors to Vienna. So make sure to book your hotel room well in advance of the conference week.
A student restaurant ("Mensa") is located inside the conference building, providing lunch for very reasoanble costs. In addition, a large variety of restaurants is situated within a walking distance to the conference building "Freihaus". During the breaks in the morning and the afternoon session, coffee, water and cakes are served.
WiFi will be available for all conference attendees in the entire conference building as well as in the lecture rooms. Connection details will be provided upon registration. If you are using EDUROAM at your home institution, you can connect to EDUROAM at Technische Universität Wien with all your personal rights, too.
Accompanying persons to the SCTE'2018 are welcome! The fee (Euro 140.--) covers the Welocme, the Conference Dinner, the coffee-breaks and both a guided walking-tour through the inner district of Vienna and a guided tour through the State Opera House.
